Inflammation is the driving force for the development of most chronic disease, especially those conditions (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s) that represent the bulk of the current health-care costs in America.
What is not appreciated is that much of this inflammation is generated by the diet. This seminar will discuss the relationship of an inflammatory diet and the activation of the innate immune system via nuclear factor kappaB (NF-κB). The mediator of this activation of NF-κB is development of Toxic Fat Syndrome, which can only be controlled by the diet. Without reducing Toxic Fat Syndrome, true health reform is impossible. This lecture will discuss the biochemistry of Toxic Fat Syndrome and practical dietary approaches to reverse it.
