Paul has a varied academic and work history in Nuclear Engineering including 3 years at the Wolfcreek Nuclear Power Plant in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Department as a Systems Expert in various Controls Systems. He wrote System and component Testing & Maintenance procedures for these different systems. He was employed in the Industrial Automation industry for 7 years, including work with companies such as Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controls, General Electric’s Industrial Automation Division and GE Fanuc in different technical areas.
During this time Paul began to be drawn to a new area where he saw a great need. He felt that many people needed assistance in different aspects of Financial Planning, and in 1985, he obtained his insurance and securities licenses and began his career in Financial Planning. He formed his own firm, Wassmer & Associates. He continued his work in the nuclear area while continuing his education in the financial field, and he completed a post-graduate program from the Henry W. Bloch School of Business, University of Missouri Kansas City, obtaining a Certificate in Financial Planning.
In 1992, Paul retired from the Industrial Automation Industry and devoted himself entirely to his Financial Planning practice. In 1998, Paul changed the name of his firm to Freedom Financial Services reaching out to people who were seeking help in Financial Planning. Since that time, his firm has grown and has received several awards in the Financial Planning field.
Paul and his wife, Rebecca, also have a non-profit ministry, CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS OF KANSAS CITY. Over the last 20 years, this ministry has intervened to help save the lives of almost 10,000 of these precious babies.
Paul and Rebecca have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.
